Week 9: Wikis

Working together to research information to put into a wiki was the task students were faced with, however in the end they were able to say that they now knew what it was like to create a whole class wiki.

Wikispaces is definitely another tool that can be used in the classroom to foster collaboration.

Week 8. Movie Maker

The students were introduced to windows live movie maker application software.

They worked hard on editing a video for it to be saved as a final product.

It was very challenging for most, but in the end they were somewhat successful!

Week 7: Podcasting using Audacity

Well, hurricane Gonzalo proved to be an experience to share in class to create an introductory podcast to the lesson.

Audacity a simple to use voice recording and editing software was quite helpful with creating different recordings to use in various parts of lessons.

Week 6: Spreadsheet in Excel

This week was quite interesting as trainees team teach on 'Introduction to Excel' and 'Creating a Gradebook in Excel'.

The facilitator of the course took a backseat as two trainees worked as facilitator's with the rest of the class. For both the Primary and the Secondary Group the facilitator's did an Excellent Job!

We thank them for their guidance.

The spreadsheet experience was one to be remembered!

Week 5: ASSURE Lesson Plan and Group Blog

Students continued to work diligently at completing their ASSURE Lesson Plan and creating their group blog. This proved to be a productive task as the groups were able to use Google Drive and Blogger to communicate and collaborate.

Week 4. Blogging (Creating Group Blogs)

This week students continued to work on writing their lesson plans, using the ASSURE Model, in their groups. They then began to brainstorm ideas on how they intend to create their blog for the specific topic as planned in their lesson.

Students were very unsure of how they were to design their blogs incooprating an aspect of the lesson they were planning. However, after reviewing past students' blogs, careful explanation and a demonstration of a blog created for the topic 'Colours' for Kindergarten students had a better idea of their task at hand, even though some were still perplexed.

Students will continue to work on their Lesson Plan and Blog during the next week.

Week 3. ASSURE Model

This week we began using MindMeister to create brainstorming MindMaps for the three main learning domains. I believe that the experience gained was both frustrating and fascinating.
The challenges of being able to individually navigate or explore the map in order to know how to use it was not as easy for some students as it was for others. However, at the end using the tool was appreciated by all.

Due to time spent on being introduced to this learning tool, the actual lesson planning using the ASSURE Model is postponed until the first session in the next week.

Week 2. Computer Basics

This week we looked at using a Google Drive Form to create quizzes.
All the trainees were given the learning experience of taking an online quizz.
As a result, if they never had that experience before, they now have it.

In addition, students are now aware of data storage "Cloud Apps":
1) Drop Box Dropbox Link

2) Google Drive Google Drive Link

They even had a whole class experience of using:
1) A DVD
2) Their USB's

Well if they never used Google+ hangout before class this week took an interesting turn as the facilitator communicated and collaborated with the trainees using this media.

Wow! EDET has been sooooooooooooooooooo productive!

Please feel free to post a response comment on this weeks sessions.
